3、straw 的由來:
“the last straw”忍耐的極限(最后一根稻草), 這一詞組出自狄更斯的小說“as the straw breaks the laden camel’s back"一只駱駝可負擔五百公斤重物,但駱駝負載過重時,最后一根稻草也會壓斷脊背。因此,英語民族往往用“the last straw”用來比喻一個人己經受了許多沉重的負擔,終于被最后一點點小小的打擊壓垮了。

【拓展】在when ,while, until, unless, if, once(一旦) 等引導的狀語從句中,如果從句的主語和主句的主語相同且從句的謂語部分含動詞be時,或從句的主謂為it is時,可以省略從句的主語和動詞be.
