Teaching aims:
1. make students understand the difference among “house, home, family”
2. read “the problems of a working family”, make students understand the main ideas of the passage and some important words.
3. discuss and discover more problems of an average American fami
2、ly.
4. pracitse spoken English on family problems.
5. arouse students’ love for their families.
Teaching steps:
Step 1: greeting, warm-up & lead-in activities
a, read the words listed on the blackboard as usual.
b, listen to a short piece of the song “讓愛住我家” to fix on the topic——family
3、c, free talk on “house, home, family”
d, lead to family problems.
Step 2: reading for gist:
a, read the passage for the 1st time.
Q:What is the biggest problem for the Jordans?
b, read for the 2nd time, finish “T” or ”F” activities.
Step 3: family problems in an average American fami

a, add a photo of the Seavers, and introduce their family members
b, students are required to retell the introduction of the Seavers.
c, questions to discuss: do you think the Seavers share the same problem with the Jordans? Why?
d, questions to discuss: do they have other family proble

* students sit in four, change their opinions, then they are asked to present their opinions.
Step 4: love your family
