With a million 18-25s unemployed,it’s not an easy time for young people looking to get on the job ladder. However, through the statistic I saw an opportunity that I decided to take.Throughout the past years I have worked hard to develop a number of projects to help young people gain an advantage in their careers and in life. With the support of Levi Roots, who created Reggae Reggae sauce.I founded UnITe puting in xx and since have enjoyed working with clients(客戶) such as Google UK,the University of Australia and others.Though this journey has had its ups and downs,I am proud of how far we have e. The main issue I have faced so far in my business life has been gaining the trust of others. If you are 19,not very many people believe you when you say you run a number of businesses. In fact I have been laughed at and even told to get a job by some. This was a major obstacle I had to face.To overe it I simply established a professional and positive reputation among colleagues, friends and in the media in order to build credibility for myself and my businesses.Age should not limit your ability to succeed and I have gained more respect due to my willingness to give back and reward the munities which support me. One of the young business people I personally support is Ryan Farquharson who runs Lovethequote. He says,“To anybody that has an urge to run their own business I would absolutely say go for it,anyone can do it!” It’s this go-getting attitude that I firmly believe needs to be encouraged and developed among today’s young people. The“one million unemployed youth”statistic is a key drive for change and an opportunity to get up and make something of yourself, you simply have to go for it and pick up support. That is what my journey and my story aims to inspire. 1.The author established the pany because he . Ⅳ. Before I left my hometown to e to study in England,I was partly terrified, and mostly I was excited.I was travelling all on my own to a place that I didn’t know any person at all.I couldn’t even say the language well, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me.Within a few month after arriving in London,I fall in love with the city.I met some of the most amazing people from all over the world.I wasn’t quite preparing for the culture shock of a different place at the beginning of.But after one and half years,I am accustomed to living there.I have realized our views and ideas have changed pletely in this country. 根據(jù)第一段中的“through the statistic I saw an opportunity that I decided to take...I founded UnITe puting”可知答案。 根據(jù)最后一段中的“It’s this go-getting attitude that I firmly believe needs to be encouraged and developed among today’s young people”可以看出,作者提Ryan Farquharson主要是想引出他說的話。 根據(jù)第二段內(nèi)容可知,面對別人的質(zhì)疑,作者并未放棄,而是通過努力讓別人改變對自己的看法,由此可以看出作者很有決心;再根據(jù)第二段中的“my willingness to give back and reward the munities which support me”不難看出,作者非?? amusing“好笑的”;towering“高大的”;interesting“有趣的”;exciting“令人激動的,激動人心的”。根據(jù)空格前的“However”的轉(zhuǎn)折可知,此處與前文中的“only about five feet tall”形成對比,故選B項。 more than“比…… 故選A項。 3.D academy “研究院”;homework“作業(yè)”;race“賽跑,種族”;discipline“紀(jì)律”。根據(jù)下文中的“We didn’t dare to trouble a woman who knew about the Battle of Hasting sand could also play the piano and 4 Shakespeare and Milton”可推知,Bessie很博學(xué),學(xué)生們都很佩服她,她的課上從來就沒有紀(jì)律的問題,故選D項。 make use of“利用”;make fun of“取笑”;make sense of“理解”;make light of“對…… even“甚至”;still“仍然”;ever“曾經(jīng)”;yet“還,然而”。根據(jù)上文中的“Miss Bessie knew that my family couldn’t afford to buy a newspaper”可知,作者家里當(dāng)時很拮據(jù),收音機對作者家來講是奢侈品,因此此處表示遞進的概念,故選A項。 下文中的“Years later, her encouragement finally led to that lovely day when Miss Bessie dropped me a note 20 ”也是提示,老師鼓勵“我”去做那些事情,故選D項。 7.B 與下文中的“what’s going on in the world”相呼應(yīng),老師鼓勵“我”通過一些途徑去探索自己的未來,不要被自己的家庭條件所限制,故選B項。 8.C catch up with“趕上”;e up with“想出”;keep up with“熟悉,了解”;put up with“容忍”。 10.B 根據(jù)空格后的“but I got to read a newspaper every day”的轉(zhuǎn)折可知,當(dāng)時“我”去送報的報酬很低,故選B項,merely意為“僅僅”。 appearance“外貌”;health“健康”;development“發(fā)展”;performance“表現(xiàn)”。 根據(jù)下文中的“that old overcoat”可知,此處選D項,used“舊的”。 inspiration“鼓舞”;anger“生氣”;curiosity“好奇心”;sponsorship“資助”。根據(jù)下文中的“her encouragement”可知,此處選A項。 So I read whatever Miss Bessie told me to read,故選D項。 5.when/while 考查連詞。 蛇€原為:especially when/while they are crossing roads。 force sb.to do sth.“迫使某人做某事”,為固定結(jié)構(gòu)。 what’s even worse“甚至更糟糕的是”,even修飾形容詞和副詞比較級,故用worse。 Ⅳ. Before I left my hometown to e to study in England,I was partly terrified, mostly I was excited.I was travelling all on my own to a place I didn’t know any person at all.I couldn’t even the language well, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me.Within a few after arriving in London,I in love with the city.I met some of the most amazing people from all over the world.I wasn’t quite for the culture shock of a different place at the beginning of .But after one and half years,I am accustomed to living .I have realized views and ideas have changed pletely in this country.- 1.
